(Yes, this auction if for BOTH Pultec EQP-1A3s!)
Until recently, these EQs were used in my recording studio, and have been maintained as necessary. Aside from several restored capacitors, these units are 100% all original, and they sound absolutely incredible.
The Pultec Program Equalizer was birthed in 1951 by Eugene Shenk and is still revered today for its performance and quality. In a world of disposable audio devices, it’s almost impossible to find original Pultec’s in this condition, so take advantage of this auction.
The EQP-1A3 features: 20, 30, 60, and 100 cps shelf boost from 0 to 13.5 dB. 20, 30, 60, and 100 cps shelf attenuate from 0 to 17.5 dB. 3, 4, 5, 8, 10, 12, and 16 kcs peak boost from 0 to 18 dB. 5, 10, and 20 kcs shelf attenuate from 0 to 16 dB, significantly low noise, and 0.15% distortion at +10 dBm.
Also featured is: original (1) ECC82, (1) ECC83 tubes, the original Triad and Peerless (by Altec Lansing) transformers, and a brushed aluminum finish.
The wide range of equalization curves provided makes it possible to boost the very low or very high frequency notes without âmuddying up” the middle register instruments. Continuously variable controls permit changing the amount of equalization on sustained tones without steps in level, or noise. All controls are clickless and a key permits cutting the equalizer in and out on cue.
As mentioned, these particular examples are in exceptional cosmetic condition and are in perfect working order. They are a sequential matched pair which is nearly impossible to find these days. These EQP-1A3’s have been serviced by David Kulka and are currently studio ready and sound amazing.
