This is a NOS 2008 Gibson CS-336 custom shop semi-hollowbody guitar. This particular example, serial number CS86526, is brand new and includes the original hard shell case, original shipping box, every single piece of original paperwork, as well as a polish cloth, instrument cable and certificate of authenticity. This guitar was never purchased from the original dealership, where it remained dead stock until purchased by me several weeks ago.
The Gibson CS-336 is much more traditional in approach than the ES-339. It features a standard Les Paul/SG/ES-335 electronics configuration, as opposed to the ES-339’s wacky “Memphis Tone Circuit.” The CS-336 also features a comfortable slim-taper neck profile as opposed to the large baseball bat-like chunkiness of the ES-339. The ES-339 features spruce bracing to make it lighter, while the CS-336 features maple bracing like a genuine ES-335. The CS-336 is essentially a better ES-339.
