This is a used 1999 Gibson Advanced Jumbo acoustic guitar, serial number 91949024. Introduced in 1936, the Advanced Jumbo was the first of Gibson’s round-shouldered dreadnoughts built with rosewood back and sides.
A re-creation of the incredibly scarce original, the Advanced Jumbo features; a sunburst finished spruce top, ’30s-style rosewood open-slot vintage bridge, mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard, inlaid mother-of-pearl arrows, an inlayed script Gibson logo, vintage firestripe pickguard, and solid Indian rosewood back and sides. Its notable tone and projection are credited to special top bracing, its long scale, and sloped-shoulder body.
This particular example is in perfect working condition and very excellent cosmetic condition with very few small dings to the finish (all of which pictured in detail). Otherwise the guitar is in near mint condition: no belt buckle wear, no arm wear, no pick wear and no fret wear. Upon opening the case the guitar looks new. This guitar also comes with a non-original hard shell case pictured below.
This guitar plays and sounds excellent. It comes with the factory-installed transducer pickup, which is convenient for both the stage and the studio. Newer versions of this model tend to have heavy, gummy, acoustic-deadening finish and poor wood-choices (notoriously common with most new Gibson models.) This guitar also happens to sound better than 90% of used Gibson acoustics we have sold. Very loud, clear, and balanced: with sparkling highs and rich lows. Not too focused in the mids, and not muddy.
The action is low, and the neck is straight. The guitar was just re-strung with Thomastik 12s, and it feels awesome. The soft-V neck profile would best be described as medium in size, and fits comfortably in your hand.
