1991 Gibson Les Paul Classic

This is a used 1991 Gibson Les Paul Classic electric guitar. This particular Premium Plus example with a flame maple top, serial number 1 1509, is in very excellent condition and includes the original warranty and the original Gibson hard shell case! This very rare first generation Classic features a striking and rich hand-rubbed translucent purple finish over a high-grade book-matched flame maple top and also lacks the “Classic” designation on the headstock (circa 1990-1993). This very desirable version is respected for rivaling Custom Shop reissues, and has since become a highly coveted and extremely rare Les Paul!

This 1991 Gibson Les Paul Classic features; a 2-piece book-matched flame maple AAA Premium Plus top, a 1-piece mahogany neck, a non-chambered body construction, a hand-rubbed translucent Purple finish, (2) vintage style PAF Gibson humbuckers with covers, trapezoid Mother of Pearl inlays, Kluson Deluxe tuners, nickel hardware, “Les Paul Model” decal (discontinued in ’93), the original warranty and the original brown Gibson hard shell case.

As mentioned, this Les Paul Classic is in very excellent all original condition. There are no modifications, no cracks, no breaks, no repairs and no replaced parts. With almost no playing wear other than some superficial marks and dings, this Les Paul looks amazing. There is little to no arm wear, neck wear, belt buckle wear, or even pick wear on the pickguard. The only fret wear visible is on the first three frets.

With regard to function, this Les Paul is great. The neck is perfectly straight. Both pickups work flawlessly, all pots work great, and all corresponding hardware is in near perfect condition. The guitar weighs a light 8 lbs. 4 oz. The case is in excellent condition and shows it’s been holding this guitar inside for the past 14 years. All latches work perfectly and the case does not exhibit any odors.
