This is a near-mint 1989 Fender HLE Homer Haynes model Stratocaster electric guitar. Designed as a limited edition (500 made) tribute to Homer Haynes of Homer & Jethro fame, the HLE Strat was the second limited run model ever released by the now renowned Fender Custom Shop. Features of this rare and truly unique guitar mimic those of a â57 Strat, and include a swamp ash body with a gold finish, a maple bolt-on neck, gold Fender Deluxe tuning machines, (3) Fender single coil pickups, a 3-way selector, all gold hardware, a gold tremolo bridge (arm included), gold tremolo bridge cover, and a gold guard.
This particular example is in very excellent, near-mint condition, and shows almost no signs of any wear or use. In fact, the only cosmetic flaws arenât caused by playing wear or use at all: they are simply some chips in the nitrocellulose finish around the tuning machines caused by the curing process. The body and guard are flawless, free of any scratches, nicks, dings, or any other name for damage you can conjure. The neck is in equally pristine condition with no fingerboard wear, and no fret wear. Also included is the Fender ownerâs manual, tremolo arm and bridge cover, documents relating to the maintenance and proper use of the neck and tremolo system, factory supplied instrument cable, strap, case keys and the original hardshell case which is in correspondingly excellent shape.
