This is a 1989 Alvarez DY59 flat top acoustic guitar by Kazuo Yairi. This particular example, serial number 40803, is in extremely excellent, near mint, 100% all original condition and includes the original owner’s manual and an era-appropriate hard shell case. With incredible transparency and a full rich tone, this particular Yairi-made Alvarez is a very fine MIJ acoustic instrument that will outperform comparable American-made guitars that cost more than five times the price of this DY59. Whether you’re a fan of new luthier-made boutique creations, or vintage originals, you will highly appreciate the craftsmanship and exacting execution featured on this guitar.
This ’89 Alvarez DY59 features: a spruce top with the original natural finish, rosewood back and sides, a matte clear coat, tortoise sound soundhole and top, bound back, a mahogany neck with an ebony fingerboard, Yairi exclusive Direct Coupled bridge, Schaller tuning machines with the Alvarez logo, the original owner’s manual, and a hard case.
With impecabbly prisitne action, and a perfectly straight neck, this guitar plays more like your favorite electric with Super Slinkys than a normal D-sized steel string acoustic. Furthermore the slim neck profile enbales very comfortable playability which is particularly easy to manage. The guitar projects loudly, in a very clear and balanced manner, which is very attractive and great for recording.
This is very beautiful example of an under-rated and under-valued acoustic guitar. File this guitar under the “best bang for your buck” category. This is a gutiar that will certainly achieve much more attention in the future, and prove to be a great investment.
