For sale is this vintage 1984 Yamaha SBG2000 electric guitar. This particular example, serial number KOIK057, is in very excellent NOS vintage condition and includes the original hard shell case, as well as, the original warranty/registration card, factory setup adjustment tool, and the original protective plastic paper on the back panels! This guitar was recently purchased from the original owner, on February 1st, 2012, who happened to be a Yamaha employee. He didn’t play guitar when it was given to him, and he never learned. This is your chance to get an extremely well-preserved example!
Serial Number: KOIK057 (1984 September 24)
The SBG2000 features: mahogany body with a carved maple bound top, laminated maple/mahogany neck thru body, the original cherry sunburst finish, bound ebony fingerboard with split mother of pearl inlay, (2) high-output Yamaha humbucking pickups, Small-Mass Tune-O-Matic style bridge and tailpiece with sustain plate, specially designed precise-tourque tuning machines, Yamaha’s push-push coil split switch, gold hardware, the original hard shell case, the original registration card, and the original tool!
While the guitar is in very pristine, near perfect condition, the original finish appears quite cloudy. This is a construction defect, and not something due to improper storage or exposure to traumatic weather conditions. I’ve read that if properly treated the cloudiness will completely disappear, but that will be a decision for the new owner.
Otherwise, the guitar is excellent. The guitar was setup up with .010 gauge strings, it works perfectly, and sounds fantastic. The gold hardware is perfectly intact and not oxidized. There are only 2 small visible dings; one on the back, one on the side, probably caused from loose case candy, but it is otherwise perfect.
