This is a vintage 1983 Fender Squier Stratocaster. Amongst the first models made by Fender Japan, this MIJ Strat is particularly rare due to the deliberate Hendrix Strat appointments, including: a large headstock profile, a maple fingerboard, an Olympic white body finish, a 3-ply (white/black/white) pickguard, and a 3-bolt neck plate. This particular example, serial number SQ19930, is in near mint 100% original condition.
This guitar is in 100% original condition and remains in very fine cosmetic shape. For being nearly 20 years old, it exhibits little evidence indicating such. The finish has, however, attractively faded to a creamy white, just like an authentic vintage Olympic white finish would. Even the knobs and pickup covers have matured into an off-white coloring. There is absolutely no playing wear (i.e. buckle rash, arm wear) on the body. Otherwise, there are a couple of very small dings that are almost impossible to photograph.
In addition to being quite handsome, this guitar happens to be one of the best (if not the best) MIJ/CIJ instruments we have ever offered. It honestly feels better than most late-60s early-70s Strats, with a neck profile that the Custom Shop wishes they could re-create. Additionally, the neck is as straight as an arrow, and the original frets are perfect. It is seriously awesome.
While MIJ Strats are not famous for their electronics, this guitar sounds great. It captures all of the quintessential Strat tones with accessible ease. The guitar was recently setup, so it feels and plays like butter. It weighs 7 lbs. and 15 oz.
