This is a vintage 1979 Moog Minimoog Model D synthesizer by Norlin/Moog Music. This late-production Minimoog, serial number 11746, is in excellent cosmetic shape, and perfect working condition. This beautiful example was recently serviced and is studio ready.
Although this synth was conveniently modified for both XLR and MIDI outputs, it is still one of the nicer examples you will find. Perhaps most importantly, this is an incredible sounding Minimmog perfect for both synth enthusiasts and musicians alike. Perhaps the most classic of monosynths, a good MiniMoog is a must.
All keys, rocker switches, knobs/dials, and lights works flawlessly. While producing a famously rich texture and grit, this synth exhibits pronounced clarity and presence: above and beyond that of most. Resultantly, this example is well-balanced, strong, full-range, and perfect for recording, sampling, etc.
The cabinet is in very nice condition, with expected scratches and dings. The control panel is perfect, as are the keys. The bottom is in excellent shape, and all (4) rubber feet are intact.
As briefly mentioned, this particular example has a couple practical modifications, visible in several photos. A MIDI output, XLR output, a ground associated with the XLR indicated on the back as a “GRD LIFT”, and a MIDI switch.
The later Minimoogs are noted for being slightly more stable and consistent, and while there are no significant differences between the early-70s version to the early-80s variety, it seems that the later ones are most popular.
Due to it’s simple and intuitive nature combined with the unparalleled sound quality of the Minimoog, it quickly became famous for being the most famously used synth of all time. From rock to dance to hiphop, the Minimoog is more relevant today than when it was introduced 40 years ago!
