1979 Fender Stratocaster

This is a vintage 25th Anniversary 1979 Fender Stratocaster. This particular example, serial number 250385 (as indicated both on the 4-bolt neck plate and the original sticker under the pickguard), is in pristine 100% all original condition and features an incredibly rare custom color White finish! Perhaps made as a result of the pearlescent finish problems that plagued the first run of 25th Anniversary Strats, or possibly created as a custom order, this extremely rare example has an original custom color WHITE finish, which as far as our research suggests, is a one-of-a-kind example.

Special Features; 4-bolt (commemorative) neck plate, traditional (non-bullet) truss rod adjustment, and special Sperzel locking tuning machines.

As alluded to above, the first 500 25th Anniversary models were finished in Pearl White, but the majority were recalled and re-finished in “25th Anniversary Stratocaster Silver” because the Pearl White finish had prematurely fatigued and weather-checked in an unattractive manner. The silver color, Porsche Silver (though Fender refers to it as the color described above,) was used in the rest of the production run.

Clearly, this guitar is neither Pearl White nor 25th Anniversary Silver. It also does not have the distracting “Anniversary” decal on the bass horn of the body like all others. It is the combination of these (2) anomalies together that makes this guitar so special and rare. Never has another one like this surfaced, and after doing quite a bit of research it seems likely that it might be one of a very small amount made.

The finish is undoubtedly original, as confirmed by both the painting technique forensic marks in the neck pocket and other cavities, as well as, a thorough black light inspection. After an in person inspection, one expert suggested that this was actually the Pearl White color without the use of active pearlescent portion, which resulted in a stunning cream color, and while we may not know why it was finished in this exact color, we do know it is original and rare!

With respect to the condition of this guitar, it is in impeccable 100% all original shape. The finish is near perfect on both the neck and the body, and there is no evidence of playing wear whatsoever. The guitar works perfectly, sounds great, and looks incredible. There is no fret wear, nor is there pick wear visible on the instrument.

The guitar includes the original black plastic molded hard case and the original strap. And while it does have the black back tremolo cavity plate, it does not include an original black tip trem arm.
