1977 Univox U-1226

Here is a vintage 1977 Univox U-1226 electric guitar amplifier. This particular example, serial number 210187, is in very excellent all original condition and includes the original matching 2 x 12″ speaker cabinet (model U1205), serial number 491, which is in correspondingly excellent shape. Jeff Beck is famous for using the same line of amps with Beck Bogert and Appice.

Cabinet Serial Number: 491
Chassis Serial Number: 210187
Speaker Code: 677731 (Eminence)

The original blue/light blue two-tone tolex is in excellent condition showing very little evidence of actual use. The original purple and red striped grillecloth is in correspondingly excellent shape. The control panel is crisp and clean exhibiting only very minor wear. One of the original handles for the head is missing a washer on the top. All tear-drop gray plastic control knobs are present, but there are a couple stress cracks in several.

The amp is in perfect working condition and sounds very good. It is cleaners than one would assume, and happens to be perfect for use in conjunction with overdrive and fuzz pedals. It’s a very good well-balanced tube amp, and both effects are highly musical and very pleasant. The original 2 x 12″ Eminence speakers work perfectly and do not exhibit voice-coil distortion or fatigue.
