Here’s a vintage 1974 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe electric guitar. This particular example, serial number 111125, is in good condition and includes the original matching Gibson owner’s manual! Recently purchased from the original owner, this guitar was modified by Valdez in Hollywood immediately after being purchased to be a real hot-rodded player. This Les Paul is in structurally perfect condition, with no breaks, no cracks, and no repairs, however, the original Les Paul Deluxe mini-humbuckers were replaced with ’70s Pat. No. stamp T-tops, and the original Kluson tuners were upgraded to Schaller tuning machines. Some other smaller ground wires were installed to minimize the originally minimal noise, but all of these small modifications were intended to make this Les Paul a fantastic functional guitar.
Serial Number: 111125
Potentiometer Code: 13774xx
Weight: 10 lbs 2 oz
Ironically, all of the aforementioned detailed “improvements” were performed by the original owner within the 1st year of his ownership. He probably should have purchased a Les Paul Standard, but he really took a liking to this Deluxe, and Valdez (located across the street from Guitar Center where it was purchased) convinced him that with some mild modifications, it would far surpass any stock Gibson guitar. The humbucker replacement was a very common upgrade, as were the tuning machines. As in stypical Valdez fashion, a Rosewood shim was used for the tuners, though the pair can easily be removed. The guitar does not come with a pickguard, and the knobs have been replaced.
The guitar plays great, and sounds fantastic. It is a lot of fun to play, and while it is slightly over 10 pounds, it is still quite enjoyable. The neck is straight, and the action is as low as it gets! It’s a great looking guitar, with a very traditional Cherry Sunburst finish.
