This is a vintage 1971 Martin D-18S acoustic guitar. Incredibly rare, and highly desirable, the D-18S is dramatically different from a regular production D-18, as this instrument features; a12-fret neck, a slotted headstock (which dictates the “S” designation), a 1 7/8″ nut, a near flat fretboard radius, and a long dreadnought body. This example is being sold as an as-is project since it requires repair. The pickguard has curled and been removed (not included), one of the original Grover tuning machines has broken and is not complete, and there is also significant damage to the back of the guitar’s body. There is a considerable amount of fingerboard wear, but with some attention, this guitar will be healthy once more. In fact, it sounds fantastic as it sits, but definitely needs attention.
