For sale is this vintage 1971 Martin D-18 acoustic flat-top guitar. While this particular example, serial number 283001, is in 100% original condition, it unfortunately has some major cosmetic and strucutral issues, and is being sold as-is. A perfect project for the patient player, this vintage D-18 still sounds quite good, and represents a great way to acquire a high-quality USA-made vintage Martin on a budget!
As briefly mentioned, this guitar has a very serious structural issue: the side was damaged, and there is a large piece missing. The same damage caused a crack in the top as well. Additionally, the action is high, and the guitar could probably use a neck reset. The pickguard suffers from the notorious peeling problem, which has also created an additional top crack. The neck is in very nice condition. The original frets display expected, although minimal, playing wear and oxidation. The neck is perfectly straight.
Features of this ’70s D-18 include: Spruce top with mahogany back and sides Mahogany neck Rosewood fretboard with dot inlays Grover tuners Rosewood bridge
This Martin D-18 features an attractive natural finish that will polish up evenly and look fantastic! The powdery dust you see in the images wipes away with a brush of the hand, but we’ll let the next owner decide how and when to clean it!
The guitar does not come with a case, but will be shipped accordingly in a series of 2 boxes.
