This is a vintage 1969 Fender Super Reverb electric guitar amplifier. This particular drip rail example, serial number A 40925, is in extremely excellent original condition and includes the original Victoria protective cover and original gray cable footswitch! This early variety “Silver Face” Super Reverb, featuring a chrome panel, also sports a drip rail edge around the transitional blue stripe grille cloth. Quite similar to the schematic as those produced with the Black Face control panel, the drip edge/rail Fender amps have long been revered as the best vintage Fender amp bargains, and are highly desired by players and collectors alike.

This particular example is the rare drip-edge/drip-rail Super Reverb which was only offered in 1969. During these transitional years into the Silverface aesthetic era, these amps were still built with blackface era components and schematic design, making this example just as great sounding as any early ’60s blackface Super Reverb. The black vinyl tolex exterior is in near mint condition with no visible wear. The blue and silver stripe grille cloth is not faded nor worn, and is still perfectly crisp and intact. The control panel exhibits no wear from plugging in instrument cables, and manipulating the knobs. All of the hardware is in very excellent condition, the chassis is quite clean, with no evidence of damage, let alone signs of oxidation.
The Fender Super Reverb utilizes: (1) GZ34, (2) 6L6, (3) 7025, (2) 12AT7, and (1) 12AX7 tubes through 4 x 10″ CTS Fender Special Design speakers. It was recently serviced, and has several new caps and an entirely new set of tubes. It is studio ready, and works perfectly.
This particular Super Reverb sounds better than any reissue and just as good as most blackface era Super Reverbs. It sounds extremely efficient, and is quite loud and robust. Surprisingly intricate at loud volumes, this Super Reverb would be perfect for playing live or recording in the studio. The amp works perfectly and sounds fantastic. The (4) CTS 10″ speakers features original cones and do not exhibit speaker fatigue nor voicecoil distortion. Both the reverb and vibrato work and sound exceptional.
