This is a vintage 1967 Framus Atlantic Bass electric semi-hollowbody thinline bass guitar. This particular example, serial number 14359, is in near mint all original condition and includes the original soft case! This incredibly rare bass in such exceptional condition is quite a find.
The Framus Atlantic Bass features: bound laminated maple top, (flamed) back, and sides, the original sunburst finish, multi-laminate maple neck, bound rosewood fingerboard, (2) True sound pickups, adjustable bridge (with cover) and tailpiece, open-back tuning machines with pearloid buttons, chrome hardware and the original black soft shell case with red plush interior.
This unique-sounding “semi-acoustic” bass easily competes with the Harmony H-22/H-27, Kay K5965, Hofner Senator/Committee bass, Gibson EB-2, and other hollowbody electric basses form the era.
This fantastic-sounding bass works perfectly and, as can be seen, looks incredibly impressive! The neck is straight, the action is low, and though the round-wound strings sound goodl. There is evidence of highly typical weather-checking and deep clear coat crazing, however, the instrument does not display playing wear. A single tuning machine ferrule is missing.
