1967 Fender Vibrolux Reverb -Amp

This is a vintage 1967 Fender Vibrolux Reverb guitar amplifier with the original footswitch. This particular example was recently purchased from the Las Vegas Guitar Center but has spent the majority of it’s life in a studio, and has been meticulously maintained and clearly pampered. This near mint (9+) example is cosmetically 100% original. It looks amazing and sounds even better.

The black vinyl tolex exterior is in near perfect condition. There is one visible dent on the front left part of the cabinet (right below the Fender logo) which can be seen in many photos. The silver/black stripe grill cloth retains perfect structural integrity along with very minimal visible fading. The control panel is also crisp and clean with only a couple small blemishes. All of the hardware is in very excellent condition and the chassis is quite clean, with no evidence of damage, let alone signs of oxidation.

All (4) transformers are original. The electrolytic caps were inevitably replaced, in addition to several other caps and resistors. Since this amp was used as the cornerstone of the amp arsenal in one of Vegas’ smaller recording studios, it was often used with 6V6 power tubes. The bias for 6V6 and 6L6 power tubes is nearly identical, so it was sometimes used with 6L6s when needed. A set of 6V6 and 6L6 Groove tubes are included.

One interesting detail of this particular amp is the unique “FOR EXPORT ONLY” tube chart. It’s obviously a mistake considering it does not have a variable 110v/220v transformer or a chassis that can fit the required transformer switch. It was probably done on accident, and instead of being replaced was simply blacked out with a marker.

As mentioned, this pristine example includes the original footswitch.

This amp sounds absolutely fantastic. Of all the mid-1960s Fender amps, the Vibrolux is without a doubt my favorite. The (2) 10″ Oxford speakers nicely compliment a (2) 6L6 power tube configuration, and combine beautifully to produce a clean, clear and full-range warmth like no other Fender amp.
