1967 Epiphone Casino E230TDC

Here’s a vintage 1967 Epiphone Casino E230TDC thinline hollowbody electric guitar with the original hard case and hangtag. This, 100% all original, absolutely immaculate example features; a perfectly preserved (and very rare) Cherry Red finish, brilliantly lustrous Chrome hardware, a highly figured flame maple back, and a seemingly time-capsulesque condition that is utterly breathtaking. Aside from inevitable fine weather-checking, this guitar would easily be considered to be in objectively mint condition with absolutely no issues.

Sporting a substantially higher profile than it’s nearly identical Gibson-branded ES-330 counterpart, the Epi Casino has been made famous by the likes of: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Keith Richards, and Dave Davies to name the most recognizable of incredible list of players. Absolutely iconic the Epiphone Casino is both a highly practical and musical guitar. The resonant acoustic qualities of it’s completely hollowbody design are complemented by the transparent, yet robust, nature of the high-output single-coil P-90 pickups. With colorful character and pronounced personality the Epiphone Casino is much more expressive than your average electric guitar, which is most certainly the reason for The Beatles’ career-long relationship with it’s sound.

This guitar plays like a dream and has been properly setup with Pyramid .010-.046 vintage roundcore roundwound strings. It sounds fantastic, and is a sheer joy to play. The post-’64 1 5/8 nut width feels quite comfortable in conjunction with the deeper than average slim-taper neck profile depth. Interestingly, this example has been stamped with a “2” designating the guitar as a factory second. Often, the reason for the stamp isn’t apparent, however, upon a thorough inspection, it was discovered that one of the digits in the serial number was improperly applied, resulting in a conflict between that on the label (089064), and the one on the headstock (089864), which clearly has to be the justification for such a designation.
