Pickup Stamp: 030266
Potentiometer Codes: 1376606

This Kay K5923 features: a laminated maple body construction, the original “Striking White” finish which has since faded to an attractive rich cream, (1) ultra-sensitive single coil “speed bump” DeArmond pickup, double-bound body (b/w/b), “Thin-Lite” maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard and offset block inlays, adjustable rosewood bridge with nickel-plated metal cover, individual Kluson Deluxe tuning machines, the original soft case, and even the original flatwound LaBella strings.

Kay electric instruments and DeArmond pickups have always been a celebrated combination. While other similar models have dual pickups, Kay was thoughtful enough to offer the one pickup variety with a middle pickup placement. Because of the centered positioning, the single pickup model actually sounds better. Rich, full, percussive, responsive, sub-harmonic, transparent all properly describe the sound of the bass, but don’t fully illustrate its subtle dynamic and incredible versatility. The original flats sound amazing, and the action is comfortably low far beyond the 12th fret.

This no-issues bass is in perfect structural all original condition, with no breaks, no cracks, no repairs, nor modifications. It was recently setup, and plays far better than any Kay we’ve had in recent history. Inspirational and enjoyable, this is your new favorite bass.
