Produced during an active transition between pre-CBS methods and those more regularly employed during the late-60′s CBS-era, this very early ’66 Tele features mostly pre-CBS appointments, including: all nitrocellulose finishing techniques, cloth wiring, and traditional spec parts. As mentioned, it features a transitional logo decal, a gray bobbin bridge pickup, “Double Line” Kluson Deluxe tuning machines, all original hardware, and the original hard shell case.

This light-weight example is in near MINT cosmetic condition, features a very subtle, yet attractive, even fade on the body, a beautifully preserved rosewood fingerboard, and of course, all original components. The neck feels absolutely perfect, and features a medium-depth soft D-shape profile with the factory larger fret stock that was commonplace amongst Fender from ’66. The pickups are powerful and full of personality and organic breath. Clear, but still robust, it definitely achieves instant Tele twang with an unmistakeable edge.

There is very little wear to speak of, as the see-through Blonde finish only displays very light case wear with zero playing wear. There are a couple of visible dings on the side of the Ash body, otherwise, this example is almost perfect.
