Here is a vintage 1966 Fender Mustang electric guitar. This particular example, serial number 156408 (F-plate), is in very excellent 100% all original condition and includes the original Salt & Pepper hard shell case! The beautifully rich Dakota Red finish is complemented by the attractively aged Pearloid pickguard and the highly figured birdseye maple neck. This completely intact Entered Special example (indicated by the factory “ES” stamp under the pickguard) has been nicely preserved, and would be a great candidate for players and collectors alike.
Serial Number: 156408 (F plate)
Neck Date: 16 MAY 66B
Potentiometer Codes: 304-6617
Weight: 7 lbs. 2 oz.
This Mustang features: the original Dakota Red finish, a slab poplar body, a Birdseye maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, a big headstock with the gold transitional Fender logo, “F” tuning machines with plastic buttons, (2) grey bobbin single coil pickups, dynamic Fender vibrato bridge and tailpiece, and the original Salt and Pepper hard shell case.
As briefly mentioned, this example is in very excellent, exceedingly fine, 100% all original condition. It features the “ES” (Entered Special) stamp under the pickguard, used to designate the guitar as a special order or a display model for a trade show.
It is in perfect working condition, with very slight playing wear along the treble side edge of the neck. Otherwise, the body does not display playing or buckle wear. All electronics were lightly serviced to reduce scratchy pot noise, and now function perfectly. It includes the original tremolo arm as well.
