For sale is this vintage 1966 Epiphone Riviera E360TD-12 vintage electric guitar! This 100% all original example, serial number 800441, is in absolutely pristine N.O.S. time capsule-esque perfectly preserved condition. The Riviera E360TD-12 is the Gibson-made Epiphone equivalent to an ES335-12, however, it features mini-humbucking pickups, as opposed to the more common traditional size humbuckers. This extremely excellent example features a Royal Tan sunburst finish and includes the original soft case.
Sharing identical manufacturing characteristics to a concurrently produced Gibson ES-335, this Rivieraâs semi-hollow maple body construction features; a solid maple block within, a mahogany neck with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, chrome hardware, an ABR-1 tune-o-matic bridge, a trapeze tailpiece, Kluson double-line tuning machines, and an original soft shell case.
Though post-â65 necks typically have a slim 1 9/16â³ nut width, this guitar has a slightly wider neck to accommodate for the 12-string configuration. The neck is perfectly straight, and the original frets are literally un-played with no fret wear whatsoever. Both pickups sound incredible: with a more significant output and a more robust tone than a P-90, yet with a more refined clarity than larger traditional humbucking pickups, the mini-humbuckers combined with the solid block create a fantastic long-sustaining bark, which is completely unattainable with an Epiphone Casino or Gibson ES-330, and significantly different from its ES335-12 counterpart.
The guitar is quite light, and weighs 8 pounds and 3 ounces. The white binding has attractively yellowed to a light cream color. The finish does not exhibit any weather checking on the body, neck, or headstock. The original chrome hardware is in very excellent well-preserved condition, as are the corresponding plastic parts. Perfect for collectors and players alike, this is a fantastically functional instrument and a great investment opportunity. As mentioned above, also included is the original soft shell case, which is in correspondingly excellent all original and perfectly functional condition.
For reasons that can not be identified by inspecting the instrument, the guitar was stamped with a factory “2” designation. Many experts suggest that such was result of a small finish blemish, an unattractive cosmetic component within the grain, or to indicate a non-retail sale placement. Absolutely nothing about the finish nor the detail work exhibits the aforementioned flaws, and many times instruments stamped with a second classification appear to be otherwise identical to those without.
This is a very fine specimen in spectacular condition. Epiphone Rivieras remain an incredible bargain when compared to their ES-335 counterpart, so don’t miss out, as this instrument represents an incredible bang for your buck, and will continue to be a wise investment.E360TD, E 360, E 360 TD, E360TD12, E-360-12, ES330, ES-33512, ES-335-12
