For sale is this vintage 1965 Fender Stratocaster electric guitar. This particular example, serial number L54050, is in very excellent original condition and includes; the original Fender hard shell case, the original tremolo arm/whammy bar, and the original bridge cover! This â65 Strat was assembled from mostly pre-CBS components using pre-CBS finishing techniques and manufacturing practices. This ’65 Fender Strat is the last small-headstock variant, and it features; the aforementioned small headstock profile with the transitional Fender logo decal, a white pickguard, an L-prefix serial number, gray-bobbin pickups, pearloid dot fingerboard inlays, cloth-wiring, etc. This attractive example displays mild mojo and visible arm wear contributing to its beautiful vintage vibe. It is not the best preserved example in existence, but if it weren’t for a single changed (volume) pot, the guitar would otherwise be 100% all original. However, its no-issues structurally intact condition, would clearly make a great candidate for those who like to play their guitars, as well as, collect them. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to buy an original pre-CBS style vintage Strat for a great price.

As previously mentioned, this ’65 Strat is 100% all original with the exception of a single potentiometer, which would be rather easy to restore if desired. Everything else is original and intact. Specific to late-’65 to late-’66 Fender guitars, this Strat features original factory large frets, as well as, a maple neck with a Brazilian rosewood cap fingerboard, a small peghead profile with a transitional logo decal, a 3-tone sunburst nitrocellulose finish with distinct bands of coloring, gray bobbin single coil pickups with staggered pole pieces, a crisp white pickguard, all original hardware, and the original Fender logo black vinyl case.
This variety Strat features a highly comfortable neck shape with slightly more depth than your average Strat neck profile. The headstock is noticeably more bold and thick, which tends to be both an acoustical advantage, as well as, an attribute which enhances sustain. Though worn in several areas, the finish is still quite lustrous and sheen.
All (3) pickups sound great, and the guitar is a joy to play. Since the guitar has clearly been lovingly played and enjoyed for many years, the frets too have experienced wear. It appears that they were dressed and milled to reduce the divots, so they are slightly flatter than when first installed. However, the guitar still plays great, and it was recently setup with Pyramid .009-.042 gauge strings. Light weight, with vibrant pickups, and a great neck, it’s surprising there isn’t more wear on this fantastic Fender Stratocaster…
