Here is a vintage 1964 Silvertone 1444/U1 electric bass guitar. Made by Danelectro for distribution through Sears, this particular example, serial number 1114, is in very excellent all original condition and includes the original hard case! Even with the occasional accolades, the U1 bass, is easily one of the best-sounding vintage basses for the money. With the same incredible value all vintage Silvertone guitars and amps seem to deliver, the U1 is by no means an exception.
In an attractive Ebony finish, this classic ’64 Silvertone U1 bass features; a single lipstick pickup in the neck position, a Dolphin headstock profile, a flat-radius Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard with large frets, 30″ scale length, a clear plastic pickguard with a silver stripe border, individual single-line Kluson Deluxe tuning machines (factory applied upside down, as all of them seem to be), CTS pots (137 6410), and a gray hard case with plush red interior.
Currently strung up with nice round-wounds, this bass might be even better with appropriate flat-wound strings. Either way, it sounds fantastic, and has a perfectly straight neck.
