Here is a vintage 1964 National Newport 82 “Map” Res-O-Glass vintage electric guitar. This particular example, serial number 1-17513, is in very excellent all original condition and includes the original rectangular hard shell case. Produced for a mere 2-year period, the fiberglass-bodied Newport 82 evolved from the Val-Pro 84, and features a highly-polished Pepper Red fiberglass exterior, a single “standard” pickup, controls on the bass side of the body, an asymmetrical (“Gumby”) plastic veneered headstock profile and and vibrato tailpiece. With the price of res-o-glass Newports and Glenwoods exceeding $5,000.00 in many instances, the Newport 82 represents the best opportunity tot buy a map-shaped res-o-glass guitar for a very reasonable price.
