As mentioned above, this particular example is 100% all original. The original cherry red finish is still perfectly rich and gorgeous, and has not faded in the slightest. Even the original hard case is in near perfect shape, with absolutely no wear evident. There is no evidence of playing wear, the fingerboard does not display any fret wear whatsoever, and thanks to the original hard case, not even all too common case wear is visible on the edges. The plastic parts look crisp and new, as does the nickel hardware, and the only noticeable oxidation is on the original large frets, which have never been polished nor cleaned. Even the original Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard is finger oil-free, and remains in unbelievably virgin condition.

It features an original compensated wrap-around tailpiece, and was fortunately never outfitted for the unpopular Maestro Vibrola. This SG Special also features: the (2) original P-90 pickups, the original single-line Kluson Deluxe tuning machines with original plastic buttons, original chrome insert black reflector knobs, original factory large profile frets, original black (B/W/B/W) 4-ply pickguard, original toggle switch ring with corresponding switch tip and all original hardware.

As discussed, this guitar plays, sounds, and feels fantastic. It has the quintessential slim-taper neck profile, which is not as thin as some, while sporting factory large frets. The evenly matched pickups are loud and robust, and the guitar functions perfectly. It is an excellent example, and was simply never played.
