Yes, amazingly, this guitar still retains every article of original case candy, and remains in very nice all original condition! This pre-CBS Fender Tele is one of the most coveted electric guitars of all time, so don’t miss out on this opportunity to buy one of the coolest investment-grade examples to be made available online in recent history, as chances like this are few and far between.
Serial Number: L01547
Neck Stamp: 3 MAR 63 B
Potentiometer Codes: 304-6315 (Stackpole)
This early-’63 Tele features: original nitrocellulose Blond finish, first variety Brazilian rosewood cap fingerboard on maple neck, single-ply 8-screw pattern pickguard, original black bobbin pickups, very early L-plate serial number, Spaghetti logo decal, original single-line Kluson Deluxe tuning machines, original bridge and saddles, all original hardware, and all of the aforementioned accoutrements.
While the guitar clearly displays light playing wear on the back of the neck, as well as, light buckle wear (worming) on the back of the body, it was obviously well cared for, and doesn’t exhibit abuse nor symptoms of improper care. There is minimal arm wear on the bass side lower bout, where your right arm would rub when playing, in addition to, several small dings on the face of the body. The majority of the dings and dents, however, are located on the edges of the body, as is typically the case. The back is in comparable condition, and possibly presents better than the finish on the front.
Most importantly, this Tele sounds absolutely incredible. The bridge pickup absolutely screams, and the guitar bleeds sustain. Very resonant and transparent, it represents the best of the rosewood fingerboard Teles. Easy and comfortable, this Tele is setup for serious playing, and it is inspirational and exciting to play.
This virgin example is perfectly preserved with respect to originality. Not a single screw has been switched, nor has a solder joint been touched, and it has complete collector’s credentials. The most significant flaw, is the series of small drying cracks in between the original tuning post holes, all of which are stable, and have probably been fixed in the same positions for over 30 years.
