Serial Number: L14509
Neck Date: 4 SEP 63 B
Potentiometer Codes: 304-6333 (CTS)
Weight: 7 lbs. 10 oz.

This beautiful pre-CBS ’63 Jazzmaster features: a well-preserved nitrocellulose 3-tone sunburst finish over a light-weight alder body, a thick Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with clay dot inlays on a maple neck, a spaghetti logo decal, an attractive tortoise pattern pickguard, original single-line Kluson Deluxe tuning machines, robust black bobbin large P-90-style single-coil pickups, the floating tremolo system with the original tremolo arm, the original bridge cover, all original hardware, and the original brown vinyl case.

As explicitly detailed in the photo collection to the right, the guitar is in very excellent cosmetic condition. This fine example displays wear not from playing, but from loose accessories in the case. And while the random superficial finish dings are distracting to some, the guitar does not exhibit arm wear, pick wear, nor fret wear, though there is very minimal belt buckle pressure marks. In that sense, the guitar is highly well-preserved, and probably has far fewer playing hours than it appears. This is fantastic for players who prefer originality, as the frets will not need replacement, the pickups are strong and sensitive, the finish is unfaded and intact, and the hardware is perfectly functional.

Not only is this Jazzmaster very light weight, but it also has one of the best neck profiles of any Fender guitar ever made. In fact, many Fender fanatics favor the ’63 Brazilian cap fingerboard to even the more famous slab board varieties. The shape is much more comfortable than most slab-board instruments, and happens to be less bulky and more refined than those crafted by CBS post-’65.

This is a great guitar, being offered at a very reasonable Buy it Now price. Do not hesitate, as many dealers are asking upward of $6,000.00 for similar examples. Still underrated, and consequently undervalued, the prices of pre-CBS Jazzmasters will certainly rise as contemporaneous Strats and Teles are much more expensive. For most of us, this is the coolest pre-CBS guitar in the realm of affordability, but as is known, that might not always be the case. Buy it for your enjoyment, while it blossoms into an investment.
