This is a vintage 1963 Fender Deluxe electric guitar amplifier. The brown-face Deluxe made its debut in 1961, and only lasted until 1963 when it switched to black-face. Features of this amplifier include (2) channels (1 Normal, 1 Bright), both with (2) instrument inputs, Volume and Tone control, the latter channel also has Speed and Intensity controls for the Vibrato function. The Deluxe is powered by (1) 12AX7 preamp tube, (1) GZ34 rectifier tube, and (2) 6V6GT power tubes through a single 12â speaker.
Originally, this incarnation of the Deluxe was fitted with a single Oxford 12K5-6, however this particular example features a Music Man 12â speaker installed by a previous owner. This amp is in perfect working condition, with no scratchy pots, no popping inputs, and as well the Vibrato function works perfectly. The tone is beautiful and clean up to about 12 oâclock, when it turns into that signature Fender overdrive we all know and love. Cosmetically, they donât get much better than this. The tolex is free of any unexpected or distracting rips or stains, the grillecloth is very clean, and the brown faceplate looks fantastic. There are, of course, a few very light scuffs around the corner, and some dirt is present from storage, however with a little cleaning this amp will look just as beautiful as it did nearly 50 years ago. Also included in this auction is the original, and fully functional footswitch.
