1962 Gibson SG Special

This is a vintage 100% ALL ORIGINAL Gibson SG Special electric guitar. This particular example, serial number 58696, is in very excellent original cosmetic condition, but has the dreaded and unfortunate headstock stress crack. While the issue is; really quite minimal, clearly not a break and completely stable without needing any repair whatsoever… it is still there, and drastically affects the value of this otherwise exceptional example.

As briefly mentioned, this particular example is 100% all original. The original cherry red finish is still rich and attractive, while others tend to fade to an ugly shade of brownish orange. It also features an original compensated wrap-around tailpiece, and was fortunately never outfitted for the archaic Maestro Vibrola. All of the other features are rather standard, including; the (2) original P-90 pickups, the original single-line Kluson Deluxe tuning machines with original plastic buttons, original black with chrome insert reflector knobs, original factory large profile frets, original black (B/W/B/W) 4-ply pickguard, original toggle switch ring with corresponding switch tip and all original hardware.

The electronics are complete and intact. The original pots all work perfectly and display original un-touched solder joints. Both P-90s are strong and efficient, and they happen to sound particularly good.

The neck is straight with a very minimal amount of relief to optimize action, and the frets display tons of life. The neck profile is between medium and slim, and is really quite conducive to easy and effortless playing. The guitar weighs a mere 6 lbs. and 9 oz!

Other than the non-repaired headstock crack, the guitar is rather fantastic. It is in great condition, and it plays and sounds great! The guitar includes a non-original SKB hard plastic case made for an SG body style.
