This is a vintage 1962 Gibson SG Les Paul Standard electric guitar. This particular example, serial number 95082, is in extremely pristine completely original condition, and includes both the original black hard case and original paperwork (hangtag and business card from the store that sold it new!) This high-grade collector’s instrument looks, plays, and sounds fantastic. Previously valued around $25,000.00, the ’62 Gibson SG didn’t just inherit the Les Paul designation, it also received: PAF pickups with nickel covers, an identical electronic arrangement, an ABR-1 tun-o-matic, a bound Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, single-line Kluson Deluxe double-ring tuning machines, chrome insert top hat knobs, and the original black tolex hard case.
This beautiful no issues Ebony Block example is in exceedingly clean 100% all original condition. In fact, it has not been polished nor cleaned since we purchased it, as it exhibits unbelievably attractive original patina. The original owner stated he had only used it several times in the ’60s, which is evidenced by the absence of expected playing wear. This nice intact example has never been modified, broken, repaired nor restored. Every part is original to the guitar.
The neck features an exceptional profile and size, and it also has original factory large frets. The original cherry red finish has naturally faded to a lighter shade of cherry, but has not transformed to an ugly orange or brown hue. The general appearance of the guitar is highly attractive and quite beautiful. The original PAF pickups are unmolested and still retain the original nickel covers, which have never been removed, as well as, the original “Patent Applied For” decals which are perfectly intact. All of the other electronics are original, as are the corresponding solder joints.
This particular guitar happens to be one of the best-performing Les Paul SGs I have had the pleasure of owning. Everything about it is great, and the tone is undeniable. This extremely light example barely weighs only 6 lbs. (6 lbs. 7 oz. to be exact.)
