This is a vintage 1962 Fender Reverb Unit 6G15 tube spring reverb effect. This particular example, serial number R01348, is in very excellent 100% all original condition and includes the original footswitch! This tube spring reverb-equipped (Hammond) tank is perfect for both the players lacking a good reverb (if any) on their amp, and the Fender amp collectors desiring a great, rare example of a pre-CBS Reverb Unit.
Serial Number: R01348
Tube Chart Date: LH (August 1962)

The Fender Reverb Unit was introduced in 1961 and was initially offered in rough blonde tolex with burgundy “Ox blood” grill cloth and a brown leather handle, which later evolved into brown tolex with a wheat colored grill cloth and a leather handle, offered in the brown aesthetic between late-1961-1963. Sometime in 1964, shortly after the production of smooth blonde tanks with sparkle wheat grille cloth ceased, Fender Reverb Units adopted the existing “blackface” aesthetic. While this version was concurrently produced with blackface amps, it would later be phased out to usher in the CBS-era silver face cosmetic combo. Of all the variants, this is both the rarest and most desirable!
This ’62 Fender Reverb 6G15 still retains (2) original RCA and Amperex tubes, including; (1) 6K6, (1) 12AT7, and (1) 12AX7. This particular example retains the original Hammond spring reverb tank, transformers, tubes, power cable, as well as, all of the original caps.
As may be deduced by the tank’s near pristine physical presentation, this unit remains in perfect working condition. With Fender’s signature lush spring reverb effect, this example performs efficiently with a depth and delay that seemingly dwarfs the on-board Reverb found in later Fender amps. Mistakenly pigeonholed as a great surf music box, it offers incomparable reverb that would be highly usable in endless recording and live settings. For guitar, vocals, or even an entire mix, nothing comes close to reproducing the sonically beautiful nature of the Fender Reverb Unit.
