1962 Fender Pro -Amp

This is a vintage 1962 Fender Pro Amp (6G5-A). This particular example, serial number 55661, is in excellent all original cosmetic condition. This brown Fender Pro features the earlier “Ox Blood” grill cloth and the original 1×15″ Jensen C15N, in addition to, a very specific and amazing sound unlike any other vintage amp. Producing perfect clean, robust tone with immense headroom, it would be quite an obvious choice for pedal steel, country twang, sweet surf and subtle R&B riffs.

This first variety brown tolex Pro (6G5-A) features; rough brown tolex, dark red “Ox Blood” grill cloth, (1) original 15″ Jensen P15R speaker, flat logo, a dark brown control panel with brown knobs, a hard plastic “dog bone” handle, (2) 5881 power tubes, (2) 12AX7 and (4) 7025 tubes.

The original rough brown tolex is very intact with very little signs of wear and use. The original “Ox Blood” grill cloth does not exhibit any tears, though it does display some fading, wear and minor imperfections. All of the hardware is original and in very nice shape. The original brown face panel is nice with expected, albeit minimal, signs of use.

As listed above, this example has all the original transformers, with 1962 date codes with the exception of one 1961 date code. According to the previous owner, this amp was serviced by Fender in the mid-70s, during which all of the capacitors were replaced. Most recently, several electrolytic caps were installed.

The original 15″ Jensen Special Design speaker is in excellent shape and sounds amazing. The cone is original, and it does not exhibit speaker fatigue nor voicecoil distortion.

This amp works perfectly and sounds fantastic. It is somewhat like a Vibroverb, but it is less scooped with more mids. A truly enjoyable ampthat invokes a bonding experience, this is a great amp to just plug-in-and-play.
