This is a vintage 1962 Fender Jazz Bass guitar. This particular example, serial number 78704, is in 100% ALL ORIGINAL condition. This pre- CBS bass is in very nice vintage cosmetic condition and features all original parts, including: the original 3-tone Sunburst nitrocellulose finish, a maple neck with Brazilian rosewood slab board fingerboard, a tortoise shell material pickguard, reverse tuning machines, original pickups, original pots, original bridge and cover, original frets, original hardware, and the original brown case.
This well-played, yet amazing example of a Jazz Bass has an ink stamped neck date of JUN 62. The Stackpole pot codes display a production date of early 1962 (304-6213) and retain original un-touched solder joints. The bass weighs 8 lbs 13 oz.
The bass sounds, plays, and looks amazing. The neck is straight and the truss rod works as it should. The neck profile is extremely comfortable, as is common for early slab board era necks. With an easy and manageable depth and shape, the neck fits perfectly in your hand and enables effortless and enjoyable playability.
The original nitrocellulose finish on the back of the neck is nicely worn in from extensive playing, and feels great. The original frets exhibit some playing wear, though still have life left in them. The clay dot inlays are nicely intact as is the original nut. The original spaghetti-logo decal is in very excellent condition. The body finish is in nice vintage shape, although exhibits considerable arm wear and belt buckle wear. The original pickguard is not cracked nor broken.
The original case is in very nice condition, though one latch is broken. Included is the original strap, and the original mutes.
