Here is a vintage 1960s Parsons style plastic desk with matching chair. The manufacturing earmarks suggest it was made by Syroco, which had licensed the Parson’s designation for their products. This collapsible design features (4) removable L-shaped legs. The top of the desk also features a V-profile detail, implemented as easy open storage or a natural book holder. The size of this recessed geometrical shape is deeper than the 3 1/4″ depth of the top of the desk, so it can not be used on a flat surface without the legs. It is finished in a high gloss off-white plastic which is reflective when polished. There are many superficial scratches on the top from decades of consistent use, however, there are no cracks, nor breaks, no chips, nor repairs. This simple desk represents space-age design at it’s finest: refined, clean, unique, sexy, sleek, this is a piece that can easily be incorporated in a ’60s home, a vintage loft, or a modern decor.
