This is a vintage 1960’s Jørgen Høj matching dining table suite, consisting of; (1) round table, (6) chairs and (4) leaves. Simple and seductive, Høj’s mid-century masterpiece is spectacularly stunning in every respect and from every angle. The attractive blend of exotic Brazilian rosewood veneers, brushed aluminum support blades and warm leather, really set this refined design far apart from typical Danish modern pieces. This pre-production set also happens to be one of the larger (more elaborate) variations, with the aforementioned 4-leaf system and an additional 2 chairs. Høj himself used this exact table in his home.
The (6) chairs have been re-upholstered using the highest saddle-quality leather, which has been oiled to best emulate the appearance of the original coloration. The original Brazilian rosewood laminated top displays evidence of expected use, but has not been refinished nor over-treated. This early set does not feature stamps accrediting the Scandinavian designer Jørgen Høj nor Niels Vietso, the manufacturer.
