Here is a vintage 1960 Fender Champ- Amp “5F1” electric guitar amplifier. This particular narrow panel tweed example, serial number C14195, is in good vintage condition, and has been completely serviced in preparation for efficient and quiet studio environment recording. While cosmetically 100% original and intact, a pro amp tech recently replaced caps, upgraded the power cable, and installed a Celestion Super 8 speaker. Perfect for the studio, this example works perfectly and sounds exceptional.
Serial Number: C14195
Tube Chart Date Stamp: JF (June 1960)
Transformer Code: EIA606 117, 606009
This Tweed Champ utilizes: (1) 5Y3, (1) 6V6, and (1) 12AX7 tubes through a non-original 1 x 8″ Celestion Super 8 speaker. Both transformers are original, though as mentioned, the caps and speaker have been replaced. Also, all (3) tubes have been replaced with a Sovtek rectifier an ARS power tube, and an NOS Westinghouse preamp tube.
This low-wattage amp is perfect for recording and really impresses an immense tone upon most microphones. This example works perfectly and sounds incredible. Clearly, this is not a 100% original collector’s example, however, it is original where most important, yet perfectly functional.
