1959 Gibson ES-330TD

This is a vintage 1959 Gibson ES-330TD electric hollowbody guitar. This Tobacco Sunburst dot-neck 330, serial/FON number S1034 17, is absolutely incredible. We have owned many vintage instruments in very excellent to near mint all original condition, but it would be difficult to say we’ve seen a 50+-year old guitar better preserved than this, even the original Lifton brown faultless plushline soft case is absolutely stunning! The ES-330 has long been considered one of Gibson’s best golden era bargains, and this particular example exemplifies exactly why: made with the same high-grade components, extremely fine materials, and unparallelled craftsmanship, there are very few details that differentiate this incredible instrument from its $30,000+ brother, the ’59 ES-335.

The guitar is amazingly crisp, and still retains a remarkably unfaded nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Additionally, the finish does not display weather-checking… not even one small microscopic check. The plastic parts shine like new, and the Kluson tuning machines look like reissues, they are that clean. The guitar comes with the original brown Lifton case with red interior, and an original era-appropriate box of Gibson strings! The Bigsby vibrola appears to be professionally dealer-installed upon purchase, as was often the case, and conceals the original holes for the trapeze tailpiece.

The guitar features the quintessential perfect ’59 large neck profile with correspondingly medium-large original frets. The Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard is rich and attractive, and the action is perfect. Absolutely inspirational to play, everything about this guitar is fantastic. It weighs just 6.5 pounds (6 lbs. 8 oz.) and the original P-90 pickups sound incredibly musical and transparent.
