Here is a vintage 1959 Gibson ES-140T (3/4 scale length) hollowbody electric guitar. This particular example, factory order number (FON) S 8248 12, is in very excellent 100% all original condition and includes the original soft Gibson alligator case! Both for the collector and the player, the ES-140T comes highly recommended by most guitarists regardless of style or taste. Made with the identical build-quality, precision, materials, and hardware, as all other full-size Gibson guitars, their 3/4-sized instruments have received the rightful reputation for being the best small/student guitars ever made. They have since evolved from being considered high-quality children’s instruments into being perceived as guitars with fantastic voices for recording applications, and perfectly petite for practice purposes. This example is very clean, feels great, and sounds fantastic… one of Gibson’s coolest cuties!
This 1959 Gibson ES-140T features: bound laminated maple top and back, mahogany sides, the original 3-tone Tobacco Sunburst finish, a one-piece mahogany neck with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, single-line Kluson Deluxe 3-in-a-row tuning machines, (1) dog-ear P-90 pickup, an adjustable rosewood bridge, a Trapeze tailpiece, gold bonnet knobs with gold inserts, a 22 3/4″ scale length, and the original soft shell case.
Being a late-1959, this guitar features factory large frets and a larger comfortable neck profile shape. Considering the smaller proportions, this simple attribute renders this guitar with action so ridiculously slinky and easy to play, that you’ll wish you would have had it while learning. Regardless, it is extremely enjoyable and tons of fun to play. The neck isn’t notoriously shallow nor small, and being a ’59 has a deep neck shape that both a petite woman and a large man will find comfortable. Oh yeah, and it weighs exactly 4 pounds.
