Here is a vintage 1956 Gibson ES-140 (3/4 scale length ES-125) hollowbody electric guitar. This particular example, FON V 6170 11, is in nice 100% all original condition and includes the original hard Gibson brown case with pink interior! Both for the collector and the player, the ES-140 comes highly recommended by most guitarists regardless of style or taste. Made with the identical build-quality, precision, materials, and hardware, as all other full-size Gibson guitars, their 3/4-sized instruments have received the rightful reputation for being the best small/student guitars ever made. They have since evolved from being considered high-quality children’s instruments into being perceived as guitars with fantastic voices for recording applications, and perfectly petite for practice purposes. This example is very clean and all original, feels great, and sounds fantastic, however, while it doesn’t display playing wear, the instrument exhibits moisture damage. Forensically, it is obvious that the moisture absorbed by the case damaged the finish on the bottom of the instrument. The guitar is in perfect structural condition, but this condition flaw is rather significant.
This ’56 Gibson ES-140 features: a non-thinline deep body depth, a Blonde (natural) finish, bound laminated maple top and back, laminated maple sides, a one-piece mahogany neck with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, single-line Kluson Deluxe 3-in-a-row tuning machines, (1) dog-ear P-90 pickup, an adjustable rosewood bridge, a Trapeze tailpiece, gold bonnet knobs, a 22 3/4″ scale length, and the original Lifton hard shell brown case with pink interior!
Absolutely a joy to play, this ES-140 has an exceptional round neck profile that will accomdate any hand. It sounds fantastic, and gives comparable large-bodied P-90 instruments a serious run for their money. The neck is straight, and action has been setup to be perfect. This little gem weighs 4 1/2 pounds. Fun for the studio, perfect for home practice, and even awesome for travel, this is the ultimate 3/4 Gibson guitar!
