Here is a vintage 1956 Danelectro U2 electric guitar. This Dano (otherwise distributed by Silvertone as the 1303 model), serial number 2046, is in very nice all original condition, and represents a fairly nice intact well-preserved example, however, it is missing the back control cover. Otherwise, it is quite nice. This iconic single cutaway guitar is one of the absolute coolest guitars of the ’50s, and is a must have for both players and collectors.
This classic single-cutaway Les Paul-influenced Danelectro features:
– A hollowbody construction from Masonite and Poplar
– (2) Lipstick pickups
– Original stacked CTS pots
– Coke-bottle style headstock
– Concentric tone and volume controls
– Chrome-plated steel bridge with adjustable Rosewood saddle
– Original white vinyl binding
– Original open gear 3-on-a-side tuning machines
– Vintage soft case
This example also features the super attractive plastic headstock nameplate logo with a matching “D” pickguard. The neck is perfectly straight, though the action is high because of the factory tall metal nut. It works perfectly, and sounds good, though it could use a professional setup to resolve the high action, which is not because of the neck angle nor neck, and is result of only the tall aluminum nut.
Once again, aside from the missing back plate and typical after-market input jack replacement, this is a no issues example with no breaks, no cracks, repairs, no modifications, etc.
Though it fits snugly within, the guitar includes a non-original early-’60s Silvertone case.
