This particular example, FON 989 7, is in very excellent 100% all original condition and includes the original faux Alligator soft case! Recently purchased from the original owner, this lightly collector circulated ES-125 is as clean as they come, and it would be hard to imagine a better example. Widely considered the best 50â²s Gibson bargain, a fantastic introductory vintage guitar purchase, and the must have alternative for the guitar player who already has several staple electrics, this â55 ES-125 is both a fantastic playerâs and collectorâs piece!
This â55 Gibson ES-125 features: an arched laminated maple top with a beautiful 3-tone Tobacco sunburst finish, maple back and sides, a one-piece mahogany neck with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, (1) P-90 pickup with adjustable pole pieces, 3-on-a-side Kluson Deluxe “no-line” tuning machines, an original pickguard, a rosewood adjustable bridge, nickel trapeze tailpiece, gold/amber speed knobs, and the original Alligator soft case.
Used by some for slide, others as an acoustic-sounding electric, and many for most musical styles, this light-weight hollowbody electric is actually quite versatile. The same qualities which contribute to producing feedback, are also those which make the ES-125 a very transparent and musical guitar. Quite enjoyable whether playing unplugged on the couch, or using it in front of an enthusiastic audience, the guitar definitely achieves a quintessential hollowbody tone.
As mentioned, this example is in 100% all original condition with absolutely no issues whatsoever: no breaks, no cracks, no repairs, no modifications, no nothing. The original tuner buttons shrunk and disintegrated enough to substantiate replacement. The exact spec replicas were professionally installed under our supervision, and the guitar is perfectly functional in every respect.
The comfortable neck profile is large and perfectly round. The original frets are almost perfectly intact with super light superficial wear only. The neck is straight, the action is low, and the guitar was recently setup with .010-.046 gauge Pyramid strings. Great with flats, half-wounds, and traditional roundwounds, this is an all-around great instrument. It weighs an incredibly light 5 lbs. 6 oz. The incredibly fragile case is in unbelievably well-preserved condition, and is worth over $200 on its own. All of the latches are working and intact, as is the original plastic handle.ES125, ES 125
