This is a vintage 1954 Gibson Les Paul Junior electric guitar. This particular example, serial number 4 3791, is in incredibly excellent, 100% all original condition and includes the original, very rare, soft Gibson case with the 1st generation light brown exterior, as well as, the original orange “Gibson Strings” tag! This example happens to be so early, that it features a brown plastic control plate. The Les Paul Jr. has arguably become the most revered student model guitar ever produced. The same simple features that made this 1st year production Jr. affordable then are the same that make it so perfectly simple today. With a single P-90 pickup and an all mahogany slab body/neck construction, the no frills Les Paul Jr. produces purely great tone. Not to mention the fact that most other 1950s guitars that don the “Les Paul” silk screen are worth considerably more. Easily the finest example of a 1st year 1954 Gibson Les Paul Jr. to be offered on eBay in quite some time, this special specimen is cosmetically crisp, well-preserved, perfectly intact and virtually uncirculated.
Serial Number: 4 3791
Weight: 7 lbs 8 oz
Pickup Output/Resistance: 7.56Ω
This example is impeccably clean and astounding mint. After 60 years in existence, it has somehow escaped both fading and weather checking. It is absolutely beautiful, and the early brown case and brown back plate suggest it’s one of the earliest ever made. Enjoy this photos, this is a real stunner.
This single-cutaway 1954 Gibson Les Paul Jr. features; a large ’59-style profile neck, a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dot inlays, original gold speed knobs, “no-line” Kluson Deluxe tuning machines with the original “shrunken” buttons, (1) dog-ear P-90 pickup, the larger- yellow center sunburst finish (as opposed to the less attractive tu-tone version with a small amount of yellow, seen in early ’54 only), a light-weight wrap-around tailpiece and all original electronics.
This particular example in perfect structural condition with no breaks, no cracks, nor repairs. All of the original hardware is in excellent shape, and the original Tobacco sunburst finish is correspondingly excellent. Even the shrunken original plastic buttons on the no-line Kluson tuning machines are intact and functional!
It’s a great playing and sounding instrument. With both a loud and efficient P-90, this Jr. sings with sustain. In addition to producing a much higher output than most, it has extremely musical qualities and is really one of those special Juniors that inspired all of us to want one.
