Here is a vintage 1951 Howard Miller 4762 desk/table clock designed by George Nelson Associates in conjunction with Irving Harper for the Howard Miller Clock Company of Zeeland, MI. This iconic timepiece features the absolute stunning color scheme of sea foam green and white with matching green micro spheres for hour markers, as opposed to the map-pin indicators. Simple, yet sophisticated, George Nelson had a special way with clock design, and the 4762 is perhaps his all-time best.
This is an all original example in very good condition. It includes the original 2-prong power cable, has a small chip on the front face plate, and features a repair tag from “Crescenta Time Service” of La Crescenta, date “9/74.” Recently reissued, this original example is 5.75″ in diameter and is 6.75″ tall, and sports the original hour hands.
The original cone base is in excellent condition, and the clock is structurally intact. The original finish has a very pleasant patina, and is certainly nice enough to keep in it’s current condition, not needing restoration whatsoever. It is in perfect functional condition, and is a must have for; mid-century homes, space age decor, and collectors alike.
