This is a vintage 1951 Epiphone Deluxe Zephyr Regent hollowbody electric guitar. This particular example, serial number 61624, is in super clean condition and includes the original case! Recently purchased from the second owner, a long-time guitar collector, it is in unbelievably beautiful condition, and was refinished by high desert luthier and craftsman, as well as, Bill Gruggett’s apprentice, Lonnie Hyde. The previous owner explained that while the guitar appeared to be in perfectly preserved original shape, the finish had begun to literally flake apart in the case, and that the finish deterioration was so accelerated that within several years of his ownership it was almost completely gone. Since the guitar was otherwise perfect, a refinish was in order. It is an absolutely stunning specimen, with incredibly exotic figured maple and unblemished gold hardware, so take advantage of this offer!
This ’51 Deluxe Zephyr Regent features: a 5-ply bound spruce top, a 5-ply bound flame maple back, flame maple sides, a 1-piece beautifully flamed maple neck, a rosewood fingerboard with V-block inlays, a triple bound headstock with flower inlay, (2) New York style single coil pickups, Epsilon logo tuning machines, rosewood adjustable bridge with a Frequensator tailpiece, and the original hard shell case.
While the guitar has clearly been refinished in a very attractive light 2-tone (honey/iced tea) Sunburst finish, the headstock veneer remains original, as does the fingerboard. It was extremely well done, and looks even more rich in person. The maple back is remarkable, and features some of the best flame of any instrument.
The action is incredible, as the guitar has been setup for Pyramid .010-.046 strings. It works perfectly and sounds absolutely fantastic. It feels great, and the low action with nice frets enables effortless playability.
