This is a vintage 1948 Gibson LG-3 flat top acoustic guitar. This particular example, which lacks both a serial number or a factory order number, is in very excellent all original condition. It plays fantastically well and sounds incredible. This is a no issues example perfect for both collectors and players alike. Made highly infrequently prior to 1946, it is similarly very rare to find any LG-3 made prior to 1950. This is an all original, no issues, prime example of a pre-1950 LG-3. The original finish retains attractive luster, though the clear nitrocellulose lacquer displays expected weather-checking. The small guard combined with the small rectangular bridge is an aesthetic found only on Gibson acoustics prior to 1955.
With no cracks, no breaks, no repairs, and no finish issues, this is a 100% all original intact example. It projects in a clean and balanced manner, and sounds fantastic. Perfect for recording or serious strumming, the LG model doesn’t come better than this. The neck profile is large and chunky, which most likely enhances sustain and enriches the tone. The bridge is still perfectly affixed to the top, and there is zero evidence of bellying. The neck joint is solid, and neck angle is near perfect with plenty of saddle life. This is a very excellent and highly attractive example.
