Here is a vintage 1922 Gibson MB-1 acoustic mandolin banjo. This particular example, FON 11700-4, is in very excellent all original condition and includes the original hard shell case, original vintage strings, and the original adjustment tool. This Loar-era banjo-mandolin is in particularly fine condition, and has been extremely well-preserved. For those who play, or those who seek an interesting tonal texture for recording purposes, this is a fantastic example.
This ’22 Gibson MB-1 features: a dark stained maple rim, a maple neck, ebony fingerboard with pearl dot inlays, bound trap-door resonator, mounted pickguard, the original hard shell case, and even the original adjustment tool.
This MB-1 is in perfect functional condition, and is void of any structural issues. It remains perfectly intact and all original with no breaks, no cracks, and no repairs. It was recently setup with new Martin strings, plays exceptionally well due to its perfectly straight neck, and features very comfortable action. Frets are intact and level. The original calf-skin head exhibits age, discoloration, and some pencil-written song titles.
